The Job
After years participating in dog shows, a coworker was ready to take the leap of faith into becoming a recognized Mastiff breeder. To do it right, he wanted a logo that reflected his company name, Maple Lane Mastiffs, his farm, and the Mastiff breed and a website that was scalable, easy to navigate, and simple to update.
The Solution
Starting with the logo, I sketched a number of designs but the clear winner was a maple leaf deconstructed to resemble a Mastiff paw. For the logotype, I wanted something airy and country for “Maple Lane” and strong and bold for “Mastiffs”. A couple styles of Charcuterie fit the bill. The primary color palette would be the red, orange, and yellow of a fall maple orchard with secondary beiges and browns of a Mastiff’s coat.
