CRF Museum

The Job

Through hosting events, elevating local stories, and bringing the past to life, Cleo Redd Fisher Museum had been a pillar of the rural community of Loudonville, OH for decades. But what was next? An ambitious new curator wanted to position the museum for generations to come. First, a new name: CRF Museum. Next, a new look. A look that honored the museum’s past while looking forward, tying the two together in a timeless look.

The Solution

Starting with the logo, I researched small museums around the world and dug into CRF Museum’s own story. Distilling all this together, I arrived at a design that features the museum building’s main entrance pediment followed by the new name, set in Hellenic (symbolic of the museum’s rural heritage) and Gotham (a timeless, yet forward-thinking sans-serif). With the logo set, I incorporated the serif and sans-serif pairing throughout the museum’s collateral and introduced old photos of past residents as much as possible. We were very proud of the work we did together and the museum, itself, has seen incredible growth with recognition from several state museum associations.
